WORKS

This is a composition made from 8vo in 1987. It is the third issue of Octavo. The pages are overlaid with tracing paper, achieving a transparent look to layer each text grouping. The grid system divides the text in a top-down flush-left format, and the letter bolding adds to the overall structure. Muir is careful to rely on white space in this edition.

A typeface family Muir created is called TwoLine. It is created based on a grid, and has a rounded variant and a harsher variant with square terminals. TwoLine is a serif type with nine weights. Many of the letter’s corners are notched, since the negative space is used to help form the shape.
